Trust

So about a year ago we invited some people over to see if they wanted to do the program. Eleven people came that night. As you may know, the it is our philosophy to trust these people first believing in everyone regardless of their background.

It was this night that we let the participants in our home as we always had. One of the participants noticed that my wife’s purse was on the credenza and when I went in the room to say good night to my wife before I drove everyone home, this individual took my wife’s wallet. She didn’t notice it missing until Chase Bank called her in the middle of the next day. You see the reason I am writing this blog isn’t to get sympathy for my wife’s wallet. I am writing this to show how God works all things for the good of those love Him and been called according to His purpose.
One of the reasons why we let all these people in our home is because there was no restroom in the From Gangs to Jobs office which is next door to our home. We have been raising funds for this project for 2 1/2 years and the going was slow as you can imagine. But recently, an ambitious, driven woman helped to change that.

I am happy to report that God has used this situation for good. He has shown His power through a couple of private donations and our partners at Mountain Park Community Church! We now have a restroom in the From Gangs to Jobs office! It is located in what will become our game room. I am so proud to be a child of God! I trust that He will open more doors for us in the future. Amen.

For those who need encouragement…
I once had this season when I was in the hole in prison and things seemed pretty bleak. I had 4 new charges and no idea if I would ever get out of prison. This preacher came to my door and kept hounding me about how much Jesus loved me. Now you can imagine how I might have a problem with this. I didn’t give my life to Christ at this time, but I did hold on to one thing he said: ‘”The C.O.s (Correction Officers) may take all your property and freedom away and even beat you and deny you food, but what they cannot do is stop the clock. The bible says that “this too shall pass” and that “He will use all things for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose.”’ So be encouraged to know that you are only in a season and that only God Almighty is capable of stopping the clock.

FGTJ $400 tax credit

If you would like to help the “Working Poor” of Arizona at no cost to you, I would like you to consider donating to a Non-Profit organization I am affiliated with called ‘From Gangs to Jobs.’ Arizona residents are able to donate up to $400.00 and take a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their 2010 Individual Tax returns. You may already be doing something similar with your donations to your local schools. However, taxpayers are able to take both credits if they so choose.

Who is God

Who is God? What does He do? What can He do? Where is He? Does He care? How is your life affected by His existence? Who is Jesus? How does He fit in the conversation concerning God? This is what I asked at the first From Gangs to Jobs bible study with nine none believers. We got all kinds of different answers, some I think were to tell me what I wanted to hear and some were how they really thought about God.

Hi my name is Natividad Mendoza I am the executive director of From Gangs to Jobs. I don’t speak elegantly and my spelling is not that great so please don’t hold that against me in my future writings.
